Zig Zag cotton is absorbent cotton wool I.P. folded like a concertina between layers of paper instead of being wound into a roll. Pull, and a measured length comes away cleanly. Nothing has to be cut, and the rest of the pack stays covered.
That is why dressing rooms ask for it. On a trolley where cotton is taken a dozen times an hour, the fold saves time on every dressing and leaves less waste behind than tearing from a roll.

The same cotton, a different fold
Zig Zag and roll packs are both Absorbent Cotton Wool I.P. to the same grade. Neither absorbs better than the other. The choice is about how the cotton will be taken off the pack: measured lengths all day, or varying amounts as a job needs them.

What is the difference between roll and Zig Zag cotton wool?
Both are Absorbent Cotton Wool I.P.; the difference is how the cotton is folded. A roll pack is one continuous length that you cut or tear as you need it. A Zig Zag pack is folded like a concertina, so a measured length pulls away cleanly without cutting — quicker on a dressing trolley.
Which pack sizes do you make?
Seven. Absorbent Cotton Wool I.P. comes as a roll in 20 g, 40 g, 400 g and 500 g packs, and Absorbent Zig Zag Cotton Wool I.P. comes in 100 g, 400 g and 500 g. All of them are made at GIDA, Gorakhpur and packed under our own Belsara brand.
Is the cotton sterilized?
No. Every pack is supplied non-sterile and is marked "to be sterilized before use". That is the usual form for absorbent cotton wool I.P. used in dressing, cleaning and everyday first aid. Sterilize it in your own autoclave if your procedure calls for it.
