Both are Absorbent Cotton Wool I.P.; the difference is how the cotton is folded. A roll pack is one continuous length that you cut or tear as you need it. A Zig Zag pack is folded like a concertina, so a measured length pulls away cleanly without cutting — quicker on a dressing trolley.

No. Every pack is supplied non-sterile and is marked "to be sterilized before use". That is the usual form for absorbent cotton wool I.P. used in dressing, cleaning and everyday first aid. Sterilize it in your own autoclave if your procedure calls for it.
